Last year Providence RI saw a significant number of teachers leaving the school district. Now, even more are resigning right as the new school year starts:

According to human resources data, as of last week 232 teachers had resigned or retired in calendar year 2022 so far. In 2021, a total of 280 teachers left, up from from 152 teacher departures in 2020. Calabro said the 232 number has already gone up since last week, with resignations outpacing the district’s hiring

Providence teachers quit for surrounding districts
…The NBC 10 I-Team learned the number of Providence teachers who quit — not including retirements — grew more than 50% during the 2020-2021 school year, from 101 to 154 total resignations, according to the Providence Teachers Union. The union told NBC 10 News that another 93 teachers have already quit during the ongoing 2021-2022 school year.
