Factcheck: Aaron F. Farinacci is the 37 year old arrested Monday for first degree arson in the Old Trails Fire. He did kill his father in Mesa Arizona in 2010 after an argument over dishes. He was charged with murder but pled down to manslaughter and aggravated assault. He got 12 years and was released from prison in 2020. He finished probation later. Prior contacts for arson related calls in Spokane in 2025 are also real. Fire damage numbers hold at around 700 structures and tens of thousands evacuated.
Damage counts keep rising past 700 structures with more properties still under assessment. Fourteen people remain unaccounted for from evacuation reports as of early this week. Fire still at zero percent contained across the Spokane complex totaling over 10 thousand acres. Suspect had prior police contacts for fire calls in the same area just one year earlier. National Guard activated and shelters still full as families return to nothing but ash.
