The U.S. has already struck a tanker near Kharg Island. CENTCOM says one of the five tankers destroyed Tuesday was the Derya, located near Kharg. Iranian state media also reported attacks in the Kharg anchorage area.
And Kharg is not some random piece of coastline. It handled roughly 90% of Iran’s oil exports before the war.
