YSK: Android users can dramatically increase the speed of their device animations/transitions/pop-ups with a simple settings change.

by deep6er

By making a minor adjustment in your device settings, you will immediately notice how much faster your device will perform. Why YSK is that Android default is set to much slower settings and your device can be noticeably faster.

Edit: for those who tried and were unsuccessful, I had a typo in the instructions. Fixed. Xiaomi and OPPO users, DM me and I’ll walk you thru it in about 60 seconds. Your settings nav is different.

Edit 2: some users mentioned that Spotify Wrapped won’t work unless you change these settings back to default. Just fyi.

Edit 3: After the DM hate and public shit talking, if you’re an iOS user who just wants to use this as a mechanism to extoll the virtues and luxuries of having zero control over your overpriced piece of shit…as some kind of excuse for not having this option available to you… find another post.

Instructions:

Go to settings (or settings>system if using Pixel)

Click on “about phone”.

Under “software information”, tap “build number” 7 times to enable developer mode. (Might ask for your pin/password before enabling)

Leave and re-enter the settings menu

You will now see “developer mode” in your settings

Click on developer mode and scroll down until you see “window animation scale”. Change this to “0.5x” Lots of people have inadvertently set it to “5x” which is slower. Has to be 0.5x.

Do the same for “transition animation scale” and “animator duration scale”.

You can turn off dev mode from the dev settings screen any time you want, but the animation scaling settings will revert back to default.
