A report from Icelandic newspaper, Stundin makes allegations that a key witness in the U.S.’s case against Julian Assange lied in most of his testimony.
The Stundin article claims that FBI informant Sigurdur Ingi Thordarson exaggerated his role as a volunteer for WikiLeaks and also lied about his interactions with Assange to authorities.
Stundin also alleges that Thordarson, known at the time as “Siggi the hacker”, worked with authorities in hopes of being granted a lesser sentence for crimes he committed.
According to Stundin, Thordarson spent 3 years in prison for sexually violating nine teenagers in more than 70 separate occurrences between 2011 and 2013.
Thordarson admitted he had a “continued… crime spree whilst working with the Department of Justice and FBI” while “receiving a promise of immunity from prosecution”.
Thordarson priorly stated that Assange instructed him to hack into the computers of the Icelandic Parliament and steal sensitive information. Stundin alleges that Thordarson changed his story and now admits Assange did not give any instruction to hack or gather any data.
Not even mentioning that Thordarson embezzled around $50,000 from WikiLeaks and wasn’t trusted within Assange’s inner circle.
Stundin reporters found no proof that Assange or anyone within WikiLeaks told Thordarson to obtain any info or documents in chat logs from 2010 and 2011 that they extensively combed through.
In these logs, Thordarson heavily exaggerated his role in WikiLeaks in communications with various hacking groups online. Through these communications, Thordarson, or “Siggi the hacker”, got in contact with LulzSec leader, Hector X. Monsegur, also known as “Sabu”. However, Sabu had been compromised in June 2011 and turned FBI informant so when Siggi requested Sabu to hack Icelandic government sites, the FBI certainly knew of it.
Who was head of the FBI during the time Sabu and Siggi cooperated with the Bureau? None other than Robert Mueller. Notably, Mueller served as Special Counsel in the 2-year long investigation into Trump’s supposed collusion with Russia during the 2016 election. During the investigation, Mueller looked into WikiLeak’s connections with Guccifer 2.0, who claimed to have hacked the Democratic National Committee and gave data to WikiLeaks.
Despite the FBI never examining the physical DNC servers and no U.S. official ever speaking with Assange, Mueller labeled Guccifer 2.0 as a front for the Russian intelligence agency, GRU. Mueller’s tenure as “Swampthing” for the Establishment goes deeper and deeper as things unsprawl even years later, revealing he was actively working with an informant that was framing and denigrating Julian Assange in a bid to smear his character.
To be clear: on the basis of Thordarson lying in his testimony, the Biden administration and Department of Justice should end the case against Assange on the foundational rights of free speech and due process. Anything less is capitulating to a completely biased and prejudiced justice system that has long been trying to persecute Assange when his only “crime” was freedom of information.
In reality, the enforcers of “justice” in America break both law and precedent in their plotting to see Assange ended – but the country desperately needs more truthtellers like Assange, willing to put parties and politics aside and set the truth free.
