We will launch a paywall. To afford free speech, IWB needs to be fully reader-funded.

Thanks for the generous donation last week. Some donated $100–$500. We appreciated it. The total donation we got is enough to get me through the month. However, it’s not sustainable for a few people to support the site with that kind of big donation for the long time, as they can’t do this every month. We decide to launch a paywall so everyone can pitch in a few bucks a month to maintain IWB. The paywall should be ready within a few days. As stated in my previous post, the current speech censorship operation is led by governments, they work with social media and search engine companies to suppress and censor information and opinion that contradict their narratives. It’s going to get worse as more advertisers continue to leave us.

The paywall will appear after the first 20 free articles, so it won’t affect all the new visitors or most of the current readers.

The rate should be between $1.95 and $8.95 a month. I haven’t decided on the rate yet. If you have any ideas about where I should set the rate, let me know.

We are primarily funded by readers. Please subscribe and donate to support us!

If we can get IWB solely funded by readers, we can slowly remove all the ads and become truly independent. We estimate that 1,500–2000 subscribers may be sufficient to fund the site. If there is additional funding, we can hire more help to dig up more interesting stories.

We aren’t going to reach our goal anytime soon. In the meantime, if you can afford to make an additional donation, we will appreciate it.
