DC mayor orders peons to wear masks; judicial/legislative & federal employees exempt from fines

DC Mayor Mariel Bowser (demorat) issued an order on July 22 directing the peons to wear masks to prevent the spread of the Wuhan virus. Details from the order:

Persons must wear a mask in the common areas of apartments, condominiums and cooperatives.
Persons leaving their residences shall wear a mask when they are likely to come into contact with another person, such as being within six feet of another person for more than a fleeting time.

There are exemptions for those with medical conditions and other special needs.

Another exemption“The enforcement provisions of this Order shall not be applied to persons in the judicial or legislative branches of the District government while those persons are on duty; and shall not apply to any employees of the federal government while they are on duty.”

Those who don’t obey the good mayor’s order are subject to fines of up to $1,000 per violation.
